Jeju Rental Car License Name Check
Check the issuing authority, document validity and vehicle category on your IDP. If any detail is unclear, complete driver registration early so Orcar can review the document before pickup.
This guide focuses on one narrow but important pickup risk for foreign travelers: making sure the driver name and license documents match before you fly to Jeju. For a broader booking checklist, see the Jeju car rental for foreigners checklist.
The document match that matters
For Orcar rentals in Korea, drivers using a foreign licence need a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) for insurance coverage. They must also hold their physical home-country licence. A translation, digital licence or screenshot does not replace these documents.
Check that the driver's name in the booking and on the driving documents is consistent. If the spelling differs, contact Orcar before pickup. The payment cardholder does not need to be the driver or the booker.
What to check before you fly
- Passport name: Use the same given name, middle name, and surname order shown in your passport whenever possible.
- Check the issuing authority, document validity and vehicle category on your IDP. If any detail is unclear, complete driver registration early so Orcar can review the document before pickup.
- Home license: Bring the physical license from your home country, even if your IDP is valid.
- Orcar collects payment when you book. No security deposit or security hold is required. The payment card does not need to be in the driver's or the booker's name.
- Country eligibility: Korea accepts valid permits under the Geneva and Vienna conventions. KoROAD notes that mainland China is not part of those conventions, while Hong Kong and Macao permits are recognized.
At Jeju Airport pickup
Jeju International Airport’s official rental car guide says travelers should use the rental car shuttle area outside Gate 5 and board the shuttle operated by the rental provider. That means document checking often happens after a short shuttle ride, not at the arrival gate itself.

If something does not match
Check that the driver's name in the booking and on the driving documents is consistent. If the spelling differs, contact Orcar before pickup. The payment cardholder does not need to be the driver or the booker.
If your license country is not eligible for self-drive in Korea, do not try to force a rental. Plan a driver service, taxi route, or public transport alternative instead. The Korea IDP guide explains eligibility in more detail.
